FOOD SERVICE - UPDATED July 2021
Food Service 2021-22
Welcome back to another great year at Silver Fork Elementary School! Each day our Food Service Team works to help our children learn by providing nutritious and tasty food for them. Our team prepares meals for our students every day that not only taste wonderful, but also meet all the strict state and federal safety and nutrition guidelines. Our team takes pride in cooking and preparing meals that kids will like and want to eat while at the same time providing all the vitamins and dietary requirements they need.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended several important waivers and flexibilities that allow us to provide meals to all students at no charge through the 2021-22 school year!
We are pleased to be able to provide a breakfast and a lunch meal to each student, each school day, at no charge to the families! One unintended result of extending the free meal service to students, is that we have seen a decrease in the number of verified students that would normally qualify for free or reduced price meals. Much of the funding for our school is predicated on our student population, and recognizing those students who would qualify for free or reduced meal price status helps the district to maximize funding and provide additional services to our children.
Please submit a Household Income Data Collection form for the 2021-22 school year (see link below).
Every student with qualifying household income, learning English, or in foster care generates additional funding for our schools. In districts where at least 55% of students fall into these categories, they receive even more funding. In Pollock Pines Elementary School District, these funds are given to each school to increase and improve services for these students. Completing the Household Income Form ensures your school receives all available funds.
We appreciate you taking the time to complete this form, to help us maximize the resources to provide services to our students.

At Silver Fork we believe that "Good things come in small packages!" Silver Fork school, with a roster of 8-10 students for the school year, Kindergarten through 8th grade, is one of the few remaining one-room schoolhouses in California. Despite our small size we have big goals for our students. We have computers for every student and use up-to-date software. Our text books are current, and our library continues to add new books of every type. Our affiliation with the Pollock Pines School District provides greater opportunities for our students.
Without a doubt, education has changed a great deal since the "Little House on the Prairie" days. The wholesome atmosphere that a small school affords has stayed the same. We like that!
